X-RAY SENSORY PLAY IDEAS

Explore the world of bones with two different x-ray sensory play ideas.  Get started with only a few simple supplies and create hours of hands-on sensory fun for the little ones!

As part of my ongoing series, ABC Sensory, we’ve been exploring a different sensory activity for each letter of the alphabet.  And for today’s letter X sensory play, we’ll be making an X-ray light bin and X-ray play dough figures!  In this post I’ll show you exactly how easy they are to make.  Plus, I created a FREE checklist to help you make your own ABC sensory bins.  Click the link to get access before getting started: FREE Idea Checklist: How To Create ABC Sensory Bins.

Supplies

Directions

To make an X-Ray light bin, start by filling your bin with white Christmas lights.  Turn the lights on and add the lid to the bin.

Next, simply place an x-ray printout (we found ours online by searching for hand and feet x-ray images) onto the top of the light bin.

Add some letter X shapes to the bin to help reinforce that X is for X-Ray.  And that’s it!

To make X-Ray play dough figures, start by cutting q-tips into various size pieces.

Next, use your gingerbread man cookie cutter to make black play dough figures.

Then, use the the q-tip pieces to create the bones of your figure, and a white pom pom for the head.

And you’re left with a mini x-ray figure.  So much fun!

Sneak In Some Learning

As your child is playing, try asking questions like:

“What letter are we learning about today?”

“What sound does the letter X make?”

“X is for what?…. X-Ray!”
