WHAT MY SITE IS ABOUT

​Color the Moon is dedicated to providing graphic design resources as well as fun crafts and projects that anyone can make.  Whether you’re a business owner looking for graphic design materials, a motivated crafter, or a mom just looking for something fun to do with your kids, you’re sure to find something you love here.  My design resources and easy-to-make projects will encourage you and your kids to play, learn, and find your inner artist, all while having fun!

 

WHY I STARTED THIS SITE

I started Color the Moon as a way to keep track of the art projects I was doing with my own children.  Since then it has grown into a way for me to teach others how easy it can be to create fun projects too.

After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, I then worked for several years as a graphic designer and production artist creating signage for businesses and individual clients.  I now work as a part time graphic design freelancer and full time mom.  Just recently, my son said to me “Mama, do you know what my favorite word is?  Create!”  And I couldn’t agree more.  As someone who has always loved creating, I knew that when I had my own children I wanted to raise them with a love of art too.  And these days, with our kitchen table often doubling as an art studio, you’ll usually find us there playing, learning, and creating.

FUN FACTS ABOUT ME

• My husband and I started dating when we were just teenagers.  We’ve been together now for more than half our lives!

• We have two amazing kids – a boy and a girl – who make me laugh and inspire me every day with their cleverness and creativity.

• I can’t stand the smell of coffee but I love drinking tea, especially while reading a good book.

• I think everything tastes better with ranch on it! yum!

WHAT DOES THE NAME  Color the Moon  MEAN?

One of my favorite quotes is:

“Reach for the moon, even if you miss you’ll land among the stars” ~ Les Brown

Color The Moon is an invitation to think outside the creative box.  As children, we are fearless in our creativity.  In a child’s eyes, a grey moon can be painted pink, or green, or purple, and that’s ok!  Color the Moon is meant to encourage us all to hold on to that boundless creativity, and to dream big.  Because sometimes, the result is so much more than you could have imagined.  So go ahead, color the moon.
