It’s no mystery why kids love playing with bubbles. They’re awesome! And whipping up a batch of FOAM bubbles for your child’s sensory bin couldn’t be easier!
As part of my ongoing series, ABC Sensory, we’ll be exploring a different sensory activity for each letter of the alphabet. And for today’s letter B sensory bin, I’ll show you the fastest, easiest way to make super-fun foam bubbles! Plus, I created a FREE checklist to help you along the way. Supplies
¼ cup water
1 tablespoon Dawn Dish Soap
Letter B Shapes (upper case and lower case)
(*optional) Objects that start with the letter B. We used toys we had lying around like buttons, blocks, bells, beads, etc. Anything that starts with the letter B will do!
Directions
In a mixing bowl add ¼ cup water, 1 tablespoon of dawn dish soap, and a few drops of food coloring.
With a mixer, blend on high for 2 minutes. In no time, you’ll have supper foam bubbles! Repeat with different colors to make rainbow bubbles!
Gently pour your foam bubbles into your sensory bin. Add in your letter B’s. And, if you want, add other objects that begin with the letter B too.
Make It A Game
Try pushing all the B letter shapes and objects under the bubbles so they’re “hiding.” Then let your kids dig through the bubbles to try and find them all!
Sneak In Some Learning
As your child is playing, try asking questions like:
“What letter are we learning about today?”
“What sound does the letter B make?”
“B is for what? Bubbles!”
When I did this with my daughter, she turned her sensory bin into a “washing station” – pretending to wash all the letter B objects she found in the bin. This eventually turned into a “washing herself station” – scrubbing her own hands and arms until she was covered in bubbles herself.
While she was playing, I kept hinting at the letter B we were learning about. By the end, she was easily reciting several words that start with the letter B, and having fun at the same time (yay!).
Try It For Yourself
This fun sensory activity is fast and super-easy to make. Foam bubbles are one of my favorite sensory bin fillers for open-ended play. There’s no doubt your kids will have fun with this activity. And by adding in some letter B objects, you can easily mix in some learning too!
